Mushroom Poster

Our humble beginnings started in 2003 when Max Seelenmayer, owner /operator embarked on an idea to bring fresh grown mushrooms to the island to supply restaurants. Being in the restaurant business for 24 years, many of which were pizzerias, it seemed that mushrooms available to restaurants were not the best quality, so by bringing them directly from the farm would be the best solution.

It did not take long for other restaurants to realize that a better product at a better price was in their best interest. The first year over 30 restaurants became regular customers. We then expanded our area from Port Alberni and Parksville, to Nanaimo, Duncan and Victoria.

As we continued serving our restaurant clients it became clear that grocery stores, markets and smaller wholesalers would benefit from the same principles of a fresher product, and our retail supplying was born. We now deliver 3 days a week to our retail customers over the years we have expanded into peppers, English cucumbers vine and beefsteak tomatoes as well as blueberries raspberries strawberries, black berries and okanogan fruits such as peaches, apricots etc. To this day we do not warehouse any of our products. Our goods are picked up in refrigerated trucks, and delivered to our customers. This has a number of advantages, especially when it comes to mushrooms and fruit. The more times products are handled, the more they become subject to bruising. In many applications suppliers would have to load and unload there trucks at numerous cold storage facilities, but not with us, its from the grower or packer straight to our customers. This also eliminates warehouse costs, which results in lower prices for our customers. Every year we are adding customers and products, in the future we are planning to also serve the northwestern U.S.
